3R

3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) initiatives by the Heiwa Group

The Heiwa Group engages in 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) initiatives in numerous settings, with the aim of achieving a recycling-oriented society. Eight government bodies related to the 3Rs (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Ministry of the Environment; and Consumer Affairs Agency) have designated October of every year as Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Promotion Month (3R Promotion Month) to call for understanding and cooperation in promoting the 3Rs. This has become an issue that every one of us must address, through means including communication and enlightenment activities aimed at the general public.

The Heiwa Group advocates enforcement of the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and works to address environmental issues and a recycling-oriented society at every stage of business from development to production, reuse, and recycling, with maximum resource conservation and recycling throughout the life cycle of pachinko and pachislot machines as our goal. Our group’s factories operate a reuse system that takes in pachinko and pachislot machines that have been in use in the market for a given period, repair the machines to different specifications on par with new machines, and redeliver the machines. We also reuse and recycle collected end-of-life pachinko and pachislot machines by dismantling these into reusable parts and materials, to protect the global environment and make effective use of limited resources.

The flow of the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

Heiwa Corporation and OLYMPIA CO., LTD. have developed groundbreaking technologies that include industry-first mechanisms and systems in the field of pachinko and pachislot. One example is the development of detachable-type pachinko machines and separatable pachislot machines that share common bodies but allow changeover of titles through replacement of the gauge board and reel assembly (combined unit). Reducing the machine waste generated in large quantities during changeover has greatly contributed to resource conservation and has created numerous merits for pachinko halls, including reduction of machine costs, transport costs, and changeover labor.
